She's Having Another Birthday

I turn 39 today.

It's a good time to reflect on positive things in our world. I seem to have been dwelling on that which brings anger & sadness lately. But, as I tell my 3 teenagers, one must have balance in one's life or there is a point where your body will MAKE you take a break. I need to take my own advice.

Today I honor:Russ Feingold He is America's true patriot.

Julia Butterfly Hill, the women who spent just under 2 years living in a redwood in northern California. Visit her site:Circle of Life Home, she is continuing her efforts to help us be kind to our earth.

The organizers of Dropping Knowledge an independent global voice that asks the questions we all are asking.

and anyone who has chosen to stop smoking today, or cease doing drugs, to spend more time with their children, to read a good book, to start taking better care of themselves, to go back to school, or to just tell someone they love them. I honor all of you today, also.

A Citizen's Guide

Teddy Roosevelt had a great quote:"The President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants. He should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency in rendering loyal, able, and disinterested service to the Nation as a whole. Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his acts, and this means that it is exactly necessary to blame him when he does wrong as to praise him when he does right. Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile. To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else."

History is important to ALWAYS return to. The mistakes & the triumphs. We have learned from all eras. To forget, or disregard what we have experienced as a country, or what we have learned, is such a blatant prostitution of what others before us have sacrificed.

Do your homework.

Madman At The Helm

On September 13, 2000 Bush said, "The best way to relieve families from time is to let them keep some of their own money."

Well, golly gee thanks Georgie.

My husband came home from work today and told me about a new man they hired. My husband is to be his direct supervisor. He & this new man are about the same age. $7.50 an hour to drive a truck running parts & supplies to men on job sites; and he's incredibly grateful for the job, do you know why? He's 8 months behind on his rent. Obviously, he has a very cool landlord. How many people are in this predicament in this country or WORSE-no home at all? It's not getting better, my friends. There is a tremendous amount of stealing going on & it starts with the top.

What can we do about this? Have you ever thought about WHAT you could do? Where do I start?

There is a great book out by John Graham, the President of The Giraffe Heroes Project Stick Your Neck Out- a street-smart guide to creating change in your community. Incidently, Mr. Graham, just 3 weeks after this book came out, ended up on the "No-Fly List." Our government does not want you to stick your neck out.

The New Pearl Harbor

Here's a good summer read: The New Pearl Harbor: Disturbing Questions About the Bush Administration and 9/11 .

David Ray Griffin first published this in 2004 asking some important and unanswered questions regarding 9/11, such as:

*Was Flight 77 really the aircraft that struck the Pentagon?
*What was the deal with Shrub's bizarre behavior while reading "My Pet Goat"?
*Did US officials have advanced information about 9/11?
*Did US officials have reason for allowing it to happen?

It's a remarkable book, much needed.

This man & his neocon crew are kidnapping my democracy.

The "Middle" Class

I have the morning off from work, so I sit here drinking my java, contemplating whether I will drive to the gas station & pay $2.95 a gallon for gas today or ride my bike to work. The weather looks decent---I will opt for the bike ride. It's 5.3 miles each way--that's a good ride, takes me about 35 minutes, and it's good for me.
Most people don't have that option. Gas seems to "drive" us all. Oil companies bank on this. As this middle class struggles to stay above water, the oil companies are making billions in profit--that's PROFIT! So, as they increase their paunch, I work on decreasing mine. I'm ok with that, but I'd like it to be a sporting option & not a survival one.
You see, corporations gave themselves good raises last year--I got a .55 cent/hour raise--and I'm a really good employee.
I'm lucky, I have medical insurance. If I have a major illness, I'll go into debt for years, but more than likely won't have to file bankruptcy. Millions of Americans don't have it that good. I also don't get vacation time--well, 1 day after the first year of full time employment, then it increases a day each year.
I'm going to Florida on vacation next month--9 days-I lose money just to get some rest. Again, I'm lucky. I'm GOING on vacation--most Americans find this difficult without going into debt.
Not to mention, the hours worked by the middle class has increased and people have no time to pay attention to what is going on in our world. We work, go home, pay bills, eat, take care of our family & try to sleep.( I also try to squeeze college classes in there) The lower middle class & the poverty stricken have it 100 times worse.
I'm not sure what the answers are, but pointing out what is going on is the start.

Easter At The Vet Clinic

I had planned to do some neocon research today, but my great dane, Charlie, had other plans.
He decided to have a GI upset & whine until 3:00 am.
I work in an animal hospital. I have almost 20 years experience, so I did the usual--took his temp--101.8--normal for dogs,
checked his gums for color-pink is good, gave him a head to toes exam--his abdomen is tense. Ok, now we are getting somewhere. My concern--he's very uncomfortable. Did he ingest something? Did he hurt himself internally? Is he getting bloat?

All this drama had begun about 10:00 pm and by 3:00 am, he was still very uncomfortable. I even threw on a pair of latex gloves & thought something might be stuck. (yeah, fun stuff there) He seems like he has to poop--but he's sooooo uncomfortable, he doesn't want to move. That was scaring me. This dog never acts this way. I want some x-rays.
My clinic has a machine, I have keys to get in, but who's going to help me do x-rays on a 178lb. great dane at 3:00 am on Easter morning? This is my husband's baby. I am NOT going to be responsible for killing my dog in any way--I would surly get divorced!
So, I bite the bullet & take him to the Emergency Vet clinic in town--x-rays--he's full of GAS! Gas pains, my huge, baby Charlie has gas pains. Now, granted, gas pains can feel like you are going to die sometimes, but almost $200 dollars later,
I find out he has a tummy ache.

Needless to say, Charlie is being very babied today--lying on his couch next to me right now, snoring like a bear.
I think today I will encourage all to go here- The Animal Rescue Site : Feed an Animal in Need

Have a great Easter.

The Powerful Can Do ANYTHING

Take a good look at this face. It is one of the many faces of the powerful elite; Arizona's Senate President, Ken Bennett.

What makes HIS face worth the first posted to my blog?
This public official took his position & used it to help his criminal son, Ryan Bennett, 19, get out of jail time, by writing a letter to Sheila S. Polk, a Yavapai County District Attorney.
What in the world did this young man do?
As a boys camp counselor, he & a 17 year old, performed punishment to the 11-14 year olds there by sticking boomsticks in their anus through their clothes.
And WHY does daddy think he should not serve jail time? because he is...."prepared to leave the country on a mission--to teach the word of Christ to youth around the world...."
So, this "district attorney" sends a letter to the editorThis is vile. I am sooooooo outraged, I can barely type.

To abase & humiliate children in this way is violent & evil behavior & they need to be held accountable in public & in the court system--these children deserve at least that.

The elite will continue to get away with atrocities until we stand up & will have no more.

Hunger In America

Looking back to when I was renting my first apartment back in 1987, I was poor. I was only 20 years old and I had a 7 month old baby. I was recently divorced and working in a fast food restaurant. My ex-husband was skipping out on his obligation to pay support & I was working my fingers to the bone to keep above water.
When my son turned 10 months old, I got a different job--working as a receptionist at an animal hospital; the same company I work at now almost 20 years later.
I was excited, because I was getting a raise. I think minimum wage was something like $4.10 an hour and I had vaulted to $5.50 an hour. I felt rich!
But, as with any job change, there was that 2 week waiting period before I received my first paycheck. On that Thursday night, the day before my big new paycheck, I was down to 1 jar of baby food & a can of pork & beans & a couple swallows of milk. That was the closest to going hungary that I have ever come. I was lucky. I didn't go on food stamps or have to go to the food bank.

Hunger, in America, has risen by 43% over the last five years. 9% rely on food assistance on an emergency basis.
Of course, children & seniors are our most vulnerable.
We, as a society, do not like to talk about hunger & poverty in America. If I were starting out my adult life today, I would not be making it, no matter how hard I worked. Our nation is different now.
Please support this site-- The Hunger Site : Give Food for Free to Hungry People in the World clicking here on a daily basis can be the difference of someone going hungary or not. I invite you to check out the products & other links associated with the site.

Hand Picked Audience

President Bush, when speaking in public, seems to be rather chummy with his listeners.
His 36% approval rating is no where to be seen. Never do we hear any audience member ask the hard questions---until
yesterday.
My new best friend--Harry Taylor stood up & well, he didn't ask a question, but told the President what the deal was! Then, what a surprise--we got to listen to the sheeple sibilate as if on cue.
Part of what he said is this--
“‘I feel like despite your rhetoric, that compassion and common sense have been left far behind during your administration,’ Taylor said, standing in a balcony seat and looking down at Bush on stage. ‘And I would hope from time to time that you have the humility and grace to be ashamed of yourself.’” SWEET!!!!!! Don't Forget About Cheney

In the fashion of the "Top 10" on David Letterman's show, I found this onToo Stupid To Be President

Anyone else in our country would be in JAIL!!

Top 12 reasons the vice president waited 18 hours to reveal he shot a 78 year-old man in the face.

12. Still looking for the bird at which he had aimed.

11. Hoping war with Iran would break-out and nobody would notice.

10. Didn't want to upstage Condi on "Meet the Press."

9. Sober enough to shoot, not sober enough to place a phone call.

8. With 50 to 80 units of bird shot in his face, it was difficult to know if the victim was Whittington or a terrorist.

7. Waiting for the story to get leaked, then demand an investigation of the so-called "Secret Service."

6. Ironically, Whittington was the designated "let's get our story straight" guy on the trip.

5. "Queer Eye" marathon on Bravo Saturday night.

4. Erasing Whittington's existence prior to the shooting proved more difficult than expected.

3. Incident occurred minutes after post office closed for the weekend.

2. Scope and type of wounds would reveal Cheney's sources and methods and leave him vulnerable to Al Quail-da.

1. He just didn't care.

Wiring-tapping Americans on their own soil is illegal.

Being in Iraq is not an excuse--this is not a conventional "war"--it is pre-emptive. We were not attacked.

New World Order

It's been another long day.

Working. I have to work. I need money to buy food, pay the mortgage, buy dog treats. (Great Dane & Yellow Lab)

I go without what many americans believe are nescessities--cable, cell phones, SUV--I don't miss these things, but I would like to watch the discovery & history channel once in awhile, it would be nice to keep the phone in my car for emergencies & SUV's look cool, but I go without, with not much complaint.

We are a "things" oriented society. We need "stuff". I guess it makes us feel better. It's what the government wants for us.
If we are driven to "get more stuff", we run ourselves weary and won't have time to pay attention to all the atrocities they are wielding against us--what they have been doing for a very long time.

If they make us afraid-(terror alert, terror alert), we are more apt to slowly give up our freedoms for the "sake" of security.
They increase their power over us, little by little.

This is not some new idea, a New World Order has been in the works for a long timeThe Order of Skull and Bones, the elite has been out to control every clime of the planet.
Do your own research.

Daylight Is Saved, But Not Condi

Welcome to daylight savings time. Now our consumer driven country will be able to work their 60+ hours a week with at least a bit more sun. Sorry, it's difficult not to be cynical in these times.

So, Condeleeza Rice has been sent to Iraq, along with her British counterpart, Jack Straw, to light a fire under the political discussions on who should be in charge.

The Bush administration needs something good to happen soon, because they are slowly sinking. Condi has no way of helping with this, but she is sure going to try.

Our soldiers and the Iraqi people are dying EVERYDAY there. There is still a lack of jobs, electricity, water, and we have not been able to maintain security for our soldiers or the Iraqi people.
The Shiites, Kurds & Sunnis are suppose to come to some sort of conclusion in the political arena just because Condi shows up? What a joke! It just goes to show you how arrogant they continue to be.

Even Spike Lee has some words for Condi.

Bottom line is, we are going to be in Iraq for a long time. Yes, Sadaam was a bastard, but look what we created.
