There is a great deal of speculation about what is going on in Iraq with regard to our troops killing civilians.
AlterNet: War on Iraq: What Happened at Haditha can help shed some light on this.
As in a previous post, I talked about the mindset of the American soldier in Iraq fighting. Soldiers are taught to take orders, and fight. They do not conduct their day to day operations engaging in the self-talk you & I as everyday civilians do. This is what I believe keeps people from relating to what is happening there.
In war, a soldier fights.
In war, a soldier takes orders from his commander.
In war, a soldier has his buddies back at all times.
In war, a soldier is lied to by the enemy.
In war, a soldier is lied to by the ally.
In war, a soldier many times has the inability to know who is their friend.
Our government has created a situation that is difficult to remedy unless we are NOT THERE!
It is NOT the soldiers fault------it is those who put them there, those who give the commands. The soldier carries out his orders, and is isolated from the politics the higher ups are discussing.
ALL the killing needs to end.
Peace,
Deanna
