The Innocent In War

There is a story out about a pregnant Iraqi woman who was gunned down while on her way to deliver her baby. Two more precious souls died.
If she were having her cousin drive her in a different country, one not battered in war, she may have flown through a red light to make it to the hospital--it happens. What gets her killed is trying to ignore the checkpoint, because this a Iraq; this is war. It's normal to hurry to the hospital when labor begins, but this is Iraq,; this is war.

Was she killed by a stop loss soldier on his 3rd or 4th Iraqi tour?
Was she killed by a soldier who has watched his buddies being blown to bits by IED's for the past months, wondering when his turn will be?
If this soldier makes it out if Iraq alive, who will he be when he comes home?

These are men who are forever changed; each processing their experience in different ways.

It's all tragic. Our government started the ball rolling on a war that is efficient in killing innocent people--Iraqi's & Americans.

Until tomorrow,
Deanna

The LA Times had a piece on the Marlboro Man this past weekend. HIs life is a mess, he isn't working and he has severe PTSD. ITs what makes me rail against our government I saw what it did to my generation with regards to Vietnam. I can't take another lost generation, living on the streets, drinking themselves to death or never understanding why they can't make it in society.

Very moving piece Deanna..

Gee, Dusty, you railed against the government after you saw what it did to your generation with regards to Vietnam?

Are you aware that you've placed your foot in your mouth again? The Vietnam War was brought to you by none other than a Liberal president - Kennedy.

Liberal places foot in mouth again. I love it.

Speaking of that family, where is that Kennedy curse when we badly need it the most?

I have no problem with people having different opinions & commenting on the blog--I love healthy debate.....my invitation to you is to do your homework on the facts tho......research history a little deeper than your junior year of high school history book.
Ever heard of the "Golden Triangle'?

The Politics of Heroin in S. E. Asia" by Alfred McCoy, "The Great Heroin Coup" by Henrik Kruger and "Double-Cross" by Sam and Chuck Giancana.

Papa Bush had a great deal to do with the Vietnam "war",
and we all know Lee Harvey was not the shooter.
Peace,
