What'cha smokin?

Let's move to a subject that affects every single family in America---the leading source of PREVENTABLE illness & death in the United States---cigarette smoking.

Any drug & alcohol class in college will tell you that's 430,000 deaths per year.

Everything we purchase, as consumers, in this country, that we ingest, has to have the ingredients listed on the packaging.

EXCEPT CIGARETTES. Read this. We all know cigarettes are harmful, but to not list what is really in them, is criminal.

Besides nicotine, which we know is the addictive component in cigarettes, there is tar, the yellow-brown sticky mass of cancer-producing hydrocarbons that has been linked to cause lung cancer.

There are also other tobacco additives & artificial tobacco substitutes that are sometimes added. Alone, these products may not be harmful, but when burned, create carcinogens(cancer-causing elements).

These items can include: cloves, sugar, licorice, freshness-preserving chemicals know as glycols, & powdered cocoa---among others.

Smokers may not be all that jazzed about these findings, but don't you find it ironic that products to help you STOP smoking are regulated, but the cigarettes are NOT? There are big corporations & tobacco lobbyists to thank for that one, kids.
While the federal government supports antismoking programs & research, it also
subsidizes tobacco growers
.

Talk about playing both sides of the fence.

Put that in your pipe & smoke it!
